Copper Canyon Elementary School
Little Free Library
THE PROJECT
IN THE BEGINNING
Before we could begin any part of this project, we had to get permission to put a Little Free Library on our school campus.

THE FIRST STEP
The first step was to convince our principal, Kyle Shappee, and our assistant principal, Stacey Orest that this would be a great asset to the community. The students collaborated to create a short iMovie presentation.
iMOVIES
The students created their iMovies after researching everything needed to start a Little Free Library. They used a variety of iPad apps.
What is the Little Free Library?
Where do we want our Little Free Library?
How we are going to do it?
Why we want to do create a Little Free Library?
A video of a visit to an actual Little Free Library
And just for fun, we have some bloopers from the making of the iMovies
After Getting Permission
Once Mr. Shappee and Mrs. Orest saw our presentations, they were excited about it and aquired permission from the school district. That's when we got to work!
The building of our Little Free Library
We built our Little Free Library with the generous support of materials and time from parents, Kevin and Cindy Angelini. We took a field trip to their house and they helped us build our Little Free Library. Not only did Mr. Angelini help us build it, he also spent time teaching us about safety, how to measure and helped us make decisions on the final design of the Library.
Designing and Painting our Little Free Library
Once our Library was built, we needed to decide how it would be painted. After much deliberation, we voted and decided that we would have a Dr. Seuss themed Little Free Library. With the amazing talent of another parent, Mary Church, she assisted us with deciding on colors, as well as creating the Dr. Seuss pictures on our Little Free Library.
We held a book drive at Copper Canyon to stock the shelves of our Little Free Library
We even made a video advertisement
Before the book drive
zero books
After the book drive
272 books
